Who We Are

My name is Janna Gay, I’m 5th generation Whatcom County born and raised (on both sides of my family tree!), and I have wanted this blanket business since the moment I saw it at 13 years old.

I can still remember the feeling of excitement I got the first time I dropped off my lease pony’s blankets with Marilyn, the first time I saw her shop, and the washers, picking them up all nice and clean. Meeting her felt like meeting a local celebrity-she was my hero! It seemed like she knew everyone, and everything about horses, and I knew then I wanted to be her when I grew up. So when the opportunity came along in 2020 to buy the business, and step into her shoes, I knew I had to take it, and with the help of some very close friends I’ve made it my own.

Moving forward to present day, I’ve been the blanket lady for years now, and loving every minute of it! I take great pride in my repairs, and making them as neat and functional as possible. Even with my passion and desire for the business, I never imagined how in depth I’d get into the science and engineering of horse blankets. I own 3/4s of a horse, as I like to tell it (two quarter horses, Red and Fancy, and a mini horse named Peanut), and while I have deep admiration for every discipline, I personally enjoy ranch riding, reining, and low-level dressage. My favorite part of my business is the opportunity to connect with clients from different horsemanship backgrounds and every walk of life imaginable, all over the love of a horse.
