Frequently Asked Questions
Can you pickup blankets at (insert your barn here)?
We do pick up and drop off blankets at specific barns in Whatcom and Skagit counties on Tuesdays, if we have been notified prior that there are blankets that will need picked up. If we are already dropping off there, we will also check for outgoing items. If you would like to know if we can add your barn to our route, please contact us! We do require a minimum of 5 items to make a stop for pickup/drop off. If you’d like pricing for these services please review our price list on our services page.
When will I get my blanket (or other items) back?
We aim to have a 1-week turnaround time. If we pickup your items on Tuesday, we aim to have the chosen services completed by the following Tuesday. There are some instances where these services will take longer, however, we do our best to communicate that to our clients if it is forseeable.
Examples of instances that will delay the 1 week turnaround time are:
If you drop your blankets off at the shop any day after Tuesday, and want them brought back to your barn, your blankets will likely be returned the following Tuesday, resulting in a 2 week turnaround.
If your blanket is excessively soiled and needs washed multiple times to meet our standard of clean, it may take longer to return your blanket as we will not return items until they are completely dry. We also cannot complete repairs on a blanket that is soiled or retaining any moisture.
Busy Season! Please bring us your blankets in the late spring or early summer when you won’t be using them. Many of you do, and we cannot thank you enough! It makes it difficult to meet our deadlines when an influx of unexpected clients bring us blankets 2 weeks before the weather is going to turn. While we can likely get them washed and dried that quickly, if there are any repairs that need to be made, we won’t be able to get them all done! It is easier for all of us to have an influx of blankets and possible delays when the weather is warmer, drier, and it isn’t essential to blanket (most) horses!
Do you have blankets for sale?
We do offer consignment, yes. Our inventory changes frequently, so we may or may not have the size/item you are looking for on any given day. We don’t list each blanket with photos. We aim to keep our consignment fee low, so our clients get the majority of the sale. If we were to list each blanket, it would require hiring a full-time employee, as there is a lot that goes into it! You are more than welcome to swing by during our shop hours (located at the bottom of the page) or schedule a time to come in and look. In order to better serve you, we do keep an inventory list on our Consignment page that is updated weekly! You will be able to find sizes and type of blanket in this list.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, most major credit cards, and venmo!
What will happen if I forget about my blankets?
We will hold your item(s) for 30 days after we notify you that they have been completed. We will send you a reminder with the updated total including the restocking fee. If an additional 30 days pass after we have sent you a reminder, we take ownership of the blankets. We do our best to be flexible if something comes up (communication goes a long way!), but we do not have the space to store blankets or other items for clients.
Do I need to tag all my blankets?
YES! This is easily the most important step. We will not pick up blankets or other items if they are not tagged and there are a few reasons:
Your tag stays with your item throughout the entire process. Upon picking up, the tag tells us who the item belongs to, where it was picked up or if it was dropped off, and what services you would like completed. Once we pick up your items (or you drop them off) and bring them to our shop, the tag goes through the wash with your items (this is why we prefer you write in sharpie! it won’t wash off the tags!), it then moves with your items to the drying racks, and then to either repairs, or bagging. We do not remove the tag until we are ready to repair and/or bag your blanket!
Please tag each blanket, and if it has a removable neck rug, please remove that and tag it as well. If you do not remove the neck rug, there is a risk it will become damaged during laundering. Our commercial washers use 9G’s of force to get the water out of your blanket, and the neck rug attachments may sustain damage when not removed.
How often should my blanket be waterproofed?
NikWax recommends waterproofing your blanket every 5-6 washes to avoid the waterproof barrier failing, and the blanket absorbing water, instead of repelling it, effectively soaking your horse. It can certainly be done more often than that, and we would recommend it at minimum every other year, if you do not wash your blanket often.
Do you launder other equine or non-equine items?
